Finding Balance in Relationship with Agreeable Boundaries

This month’s positive point discusses how a couple established agreeable boundaries to balance the time spent with family visits.

This month’s positive point with a couple happened when one mate expressed a desire for her husband to spend more time with her family. The family lives far enough away that it is easy to let months slip by without seeing them.

Admittedly, she said they aren’t the easiest people to get along with, but she very much wants to schedule a few trips a year to spend time with her relatives. In order to make that happen, I asked the couple to work as a team to brainstorm how to set boundaries around how many days they would spend visiting and how much time each day they would spend visiting.

After making a list of agreeable boundaries, they both feel better about balancing time between the husband’s family and the wife’s family. Success!
