Romance can mean different things for different people.
This month’s positive point with a client occurred as we were working on their department of romance. Over the years, I’ve mentioned how I work with a couple on the 9 departments in their relationship. Here’s a review of the list of 9 departments:
- Communication
- Romance
- Fun
- Practical Life (caring for your home inside and out)
- Parenting
- Finances
- Lovemaking
- Physical Affection
- Spirituality
When I work on romance with a couple, I give them a romance survey to fill out and we discuss it. This survey gives each person the chance to state what romance means to him or her. By answering specific questions around the topic of romance, each person creates a guide for the other person on how to romance him or her.
While talking about the romance survey with this particular couple, the soon-to-be wife shared with me that one of the most romantic things her mate had ever done for her was to make a clay mold of his hand grip. She said that whenever they are apart (until they get married, they only see each other every other weekend) and she is missing him, putting her hand in the mold makes her feel as though she is holding his hand.
We all have times when we are apart from our loved ones. What a simple, yet meaningful way to bridge the gap between you and the other person!
