This month’s Ask Coach Kathy discusses how to have an attitude of gratitude for this very different-looking Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’m really bummed that it’s only going to be me and my husband at the table. We usually have a houseful of 15 people. I’m not feeling very grateful. Any ideas?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year, exactly for the reason you state. I absolutely love to have out-of-town family, friends, and immediate family at our table. I get it. Below are a few ideas to kickstart an attitude of gratitude for a holiday that may feel foreign:
- Remember, this Thanksgiving will be different. Different is not necessarily bad.
- Kickstart this Thanksgiving by documenting one thing per day that you are grateful for leading up to the holiday, so when you sit down at your dinner table with your husband, you will have stoked the gratitude fire within you.
- Make sure to connect with the people you normally see on Thanksgiving. I know, I get “Zoomed out” too, but we’re so, so lucky to have the technology to connect!
Allow gratitude to guide you through this Thanksgiving and you may be surprised you feel less bummed than you thought you would feel.
