Coach Kathy Dawson and her dog Rosie on the set of the Cleveland Fox 8 Morning ShowAfter eighteen months of appearing on Fox 8 in the Morning, I brought a guest along with me for last week’s Love & Marriage segment, my wonderful dog, Rosie! She was the perfect visual aid as I talked about pet ownership and the challenges it brings to a couple’s relationship. As pooch or kitty cat owners, how many times have we walked into our house at the end of the day, after not seeing our mate all day long, and instead of greeting our partner, we greet our four legged friend? Some of us may not only greet our dog or cat, we might even gush over them! Let’s be honest. Haven’t we been known to linger over our pet as we rub, scratch, and even kiss it, while our significant other observes our displays of affection with fervent longing?
Instead of making out pets the first recipient of our affection, let’s commit to making a b-line to our mates as we walk through the door so we can give him or her a 5 second hug or a 10 second kiss before we pamper our pooch or kitty. As much as we all love our pets, our mates want to know we love them more.
