Role Modeling Kindness in the Home

We need to become aware of what it is we need to change before we can change it!

Kathy Dawson - Positive Points

A positive point while working with a client this month happened when a couple had an “Ah-ha” moment. They were sharing with me how important it is to teach kindness to their kids. It had become a theme in their family. As we talked in more detail about this theme, a light bulb went off in each of their heads. Had they actually been modeling kindness to each other? They admitted that, honestly, the answer was “No.”

The success here is that they realized kindness starts from the heads of the family and works its way down. They may have known it intellectually, but it wasn’t until we compared kindness in general to kindness between the two of them that the message really resonated.

As is widely known, we can’t change anything about ourselves until we are aware of what it is we need to change!
