How to Get on the Same Page When Your Parenting Styles Differ

The truth is that kids know when their parents aren’t unified!

Coach Kathy Dawson - Positive Points

This month’s positive point with a client was when a couple, who had previously had trouble getting on the same page as parents, started having a weekly family meeting to work and present themselves to their children as a team. Having the family meeting has changed the dynamic between the couple and between the parents and their children around parenting.

The parents are now using the pronoun, “We” a lot and are saying, “We’ll discuss your request and get back to you in 24 hours.” This statement is clear evidence to their children that their parents confer with one another. This statement also teaches their children about delayed gratification.
