Affairs in a marriage or relationship have been happening since the beginning of man. What is new in today’s world is the speed with which someone can connect and keep a connection alive. Many affairs today are initiated, maintained, and discovered with the use of technology, specifically a text, e-mail, or social media.
Once in awhile an affair is discovered because an irate partner calls the unsuspecting mate of the person who is having the affair with his or her mate, but nowadays infidelity is most commonly discovered by someone finding a techno communication between his or her mate and the mate’s mister/mistress. The person finding the techno communication knows an affair is happening because the text, e-mail, or facebook message illustrates the crossing of a sexual or emotional boundary. It’s usually pretty obvious.
Once the affair has been discovered, and the partners agree to work on their marriage or relationship, the affair must be 100% severed. Where this can get difficult is when the mistress/mister continues to try to engage in communication. Severing the affair is just step one. Step two is disengaging completely by NOT responding at all to the other’s texts, e-mails, or facebook messages.
