This month’s Ask Coach Kathy is about honoring both spouse’s faiths during the Holidays.
My husband and I have an inter-faith marriage. It causes tension during the holidays because we both want to incorporate our traditions, but I think it’s overwhelming and confusing for our children. Not sure how to
handle it. Neither of us wants to give up any of our own religious holiday traditions.
Having different holiday traditions can be a rich learning experience for your kids. Perhaps you and your husband want to evaluate the number of things you are doing from each faith and perhaps decrease the amount, yet still expose your children to both.
Or you might want to put space between the traditions you do celebrate so that the children don’t feel overwhelmed.
