Because we are coming up to the busiest season for weddings, I thought I would share with you the story of a wedding of a client of mine (they gave me permission).
This couple got married in the state of Washington, on the beach of Puget Sound. They wanted their wedding ceremony and reception to be simple, yet meaningful. To that end, they collected elements from their natural surroundings: rocks, pebbles, sand, greenery, flowers, and driftwood, among other things. They then invited their guests to choose from these natural elements and decorate their own table for the reception. In short, they asked their guests to play!
This couple invited everyone into a beautiful bathhouse near the beach for a BBQ reception before the ceremony. When it came time for the ceremony, sharing the story of their relationship was the main focus. The backdrop for their special day was the beach with a setting sun.
What I love most about this couple’s wedding story is that it was designed with their values of simplicity, nature, and story-telling in mind. They created something unique to themselves!
