Start your family meetings on a positive point!
This month’s positive point with a couple happened when the couple reported to me at one of our sessions that they had a family meeting with their 2-1/2 and 5-year-old children. I was a bit skeptical as to whether their children would be able to have enough of an attention span for the meeting, but apparently, the kids loved it!
The first thing to happen at a family meeting is for each family member to pick a name out of a bowl of another family member and say something nice about that person. The 5-year-old picked out his mom’s name and proceeded to say “Mom, you’re a beauty queen and I want to marry you!”
I was tickled pink to hear that. That child’s compliment to his mom gave this family’s debut family meeting a positive start.
