Relationships: Spending Real Time With Your Mate

This month’s positive point is about the importance of spending real, quality time with your mate.

Kathy Dawson - Spending Real Time With Your MateI know each month I usually describe a positive point in the work I do with a couple/client. The only difference is that the couple this month is not a client – it is me and my husband!

So, in January we put together a somewhat spontaneous trip to get away somewhere warm together – just the two of us! That somewhere was St. Martin, in the Caribbean. I cannot extol enough the virtues of spending time alone with your mate in a completely different environment than normal.

For us, living in Cleveland, to get away to warmth, vitamin D, and jeweled-tone water, is a recipe for relaxation and re-connection. I’m not sure why, but when my husband, Dick, and I get into waist or shoulder-high water, whether it is in a pool or an ocean, we talk like the dickens! Topics come out of our mouths that are rarely discussed. We walk away from the trip knowing more about each other (that’s saying something after 35 years of marriage).

My hope is this photo and the above explanation will motivate you and your mate to think about where you want to go, get on-line, and just book it!

Bon voyage!!
