It’s that window of time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Your life may feel a bit less hectic now that the holiday rush is past. Many people take this time to go on vacation away from home or have a stay-cation at home, because somehow life just feels more relaxed.
This calmer window of time, prior to the beginning of the year, is a great time for you and your mate to assess the past year and set some goals for next year. My husband and I do this and truly enjoy it. Sometimes we use a questionnaire to help us reflect on what we’ve done over the last year and sometimes we just wing it. Either way, we have gotten into the habit of celebrating what we consider to be successes in our life and relationship over the last 12 months. We also talk through and write down what our goals are for our personal relationship, our home, our relationship with our family, and our finances, just to name of few categories.
So as the last few days of the year roll by, consider doing this in a formal way with your mate. Agree on a meeting place to where you will bring paper and pen, coffee, a bottle of wine, or whatever inspires you. Your relationship or marriage deserves this attention and intention!
