What is Your Relationship Ritual?

Relationship rituals are key to keeping a marriage or relationship strong.  Rituals, or traditions you and your mate have agreed upon, remind you that you are committed to keeping your union strong.  For example, my husband and I have our “weekly meeting” every Sunday at Starbucks.  This is our time to cross-check calendars for the upcoming week, decide who plan’s that week’s date, and vent about anything that might be on our mind or heart.  Unless there is a major emergency, we have this meeting!

Another ritual we have is that we take time to snuggle together before getting out of bed.  This is our time to connect before we get started on our own individual projects.  We still reconnect at different points of the day, but this pre-dawn time together has become an important ritual for us.

My relationship ritual… dancing every Friday night. We are both great dancers and going out dancing (even though we are each allowed to dance with a few others during the night, usually ballroom dancing) just makes me fall in love with him all over again each week. It really is part of the glue that keeps us together, along with the laughter and silly sense of humor we both have.
