In the last month, I’ve reconnected with an old flame from high school on Facebook. We caught up over the last few messages and then he dropped a bomb on me that he is still in love with me! I haven’t told my husband about messaging him on Facebook because until now, our conversation has been pretty surface and friendly. Should I tell my husband what I learned or just pretend it didn’t happen?
First of all, I would sever your Facebook relationship with your high school boyfriend immediately. Give him the courtesy of telling him you’re uncomfortable with where your conversations have taken you and explain that you need to disconnect from him.
I would be 100% transparent with your husband and tell him how this innocent Facebook conversation evolved into something you weren’t expecting and that you have stopped your conversations with this person.
I would start your conversation with your husband with something like, “I want to be completely open and honest with you about something.” That lets your husband know you are not into keeping secrets from him. I have no doubt, although he may be surprised, he will appreciate your honesty.
