We come in as spiritual beings and we leave as spiritual beings, yet many couples place little attention on this part of their relationship. It’s easy to get sucked into the vortex of everyday life: work, kids, hobbies, and the house! All of these things need to be addressed in life, but is there any room for you and your partner to talk about your deepest spiritual beliefs and convictions, as well?
If you haven’t broached this topic, here are some questions to get you started:
What is your image of God?
Do you have a spiritual practice?
What do you think happens when you die?
How would you like your children to be raised, spiritually?
What are your thoughts about euthanasia?
Who are the spiritual leaders you would most like to meet
and why?
Communicating with your mate on this level is one of the richest levels on which to connect. This is not about convincing your partner to think or feel your way, but to allow him or her to share his or her deepest part of themselves, without judgment or criticism from you. It’s a great practice in letting go of control!
