Maybe I’m getting nostalgic as the years pass by … I have a hankering this month to share a personal memory of something I did for my husband on Valentine’s Day.
Okay, get ready.
So, I put a red post-it note on my husband’s briefcase that said, “Today is RED day! Be home at 12:00 sharp for lunch.”
I spent the entire morning turning our bedroom into a red love nest. I had purchased a piece of red lace from the fabric store and made a table cloth that I put on our wicker trunk. I bought red sheets and pillow cases and made up our bed. I cooked pasta and dyed it red and covered it in red sauce. I made a loaf of bread and dyed it red. And I made a red key lime pie for dessert. Of course, there were red candles on the trunk and a red rose. I dressed in a red dress and when he walked into our room, I had the song “Lady in Red” playing. I went all out! Needless to say, he was floored that I went to so much trouble, but it’s a memory we will never forget!
To Be Fair …
So, I don’t want you to think I’m the only romantic in our relationship. One year I came home on Valentine’s Day to find my husband, Dick, dressed in a tuxedo, with a linen napkin draped over his one arm. He escorted me to a table by the fireplace in our living room and proceeded to serve me a 4-course lunch!
